The Bible declares: "For the word
of God is quick, and powerful, and
sharper than any
twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and
spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12. We are
instructed to:
"... receive with meekness the
engrafted word, which is able to save
your souls." James 1:21.
We are also instructed to: "Study
to shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to
be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15.
But why does God want us to know the Word of God? If we have the Word
of God in us, it will make us grow
spiritually, it will make us spiritually strong and if we are
spiritually
strong, we will be able to overcome the wicked one, the Devil:
"... I have written unto you,
young men, because ye are strong, and the
word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one."

John 2:14. If we as disciples of Jesus Christ take Jesus as our
example,
He overcame the Devil with the Word of God saying, 'it is written':
"Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and
sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And
saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall
down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan:
for it is written, Thou shalt
worship the Lord thy God, and him only
shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came
and ministered unto him."
Matthew 4:8-11.

on-line. One can select different Bible versions, look up Strongs
